Principal Consultant
Dr. Namrata Mahara Rawal is the Principal Consultant in the Department of Psychiatry at Nepal Mediciti Hospital. Dr. Rawal is a distinguished psychiatrist with decades of experience in treating patients with neuropsychiatry, epilepsy, sleep disorders, and dementia. Dr. Rawal received specialized training from renowned centers, including the 'San Antonio Military Medical Center' in the USA and the 'Phramongkutklao Hospital' in Thailand.
After completing her MBBS at AFMC Pune, Pune University, India, Dr. Rawal has dedicated her career to treating patients with Neuropsychiatric and Addiction disorders. She served as a Medical Officer in 1998, Registrar in 2005, Consultant Psychiatrist in 2007, and has been the Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Birendra Army Hospital since 2011. Dr. Rawal has gained extensive experience in treating patients with anxiety, depression, and other psychiatric disorders and has expertise in military psychiatry as well. Her wealth of experience has also led her to contribute to the field through the publication of various journal articles addressing mental health issues among serving soldiers.
Since October 2011, she has held the position of Associate Professor at the Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences. With decades of national and international training in various teaching styles, course development, and supervision of residents' thesis or research writing, she actively participates in training interns, residents, nurses, and paramedical students. She served as a Military Observer for UNMIS from 2006 to 2007 and also worked in the GI sector, playing an active role as a military observer at the United Nations (UN).
