Dr. Bijoy G Rajbanshi is the Principal Consultant and Head of the Department of Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery at Nepal Mediciti Hospital and serves as the President of the Cardiac Society of Nepal, the largest organization for heart disease physicians in the country. He completed his MBBS at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and his MS in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from BSM Medical University in Bangladesh. Further advancing his expertise, Dr. Rajbanshi undertook a Clinical Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and an Advanced Clinical Fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery with a focus on Aortic and Endovascular Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
Dr. Rajbanshi has performed over 6,000 heart surgeries and has been instrumental in introducing and conducting complex procedures in Nepal, including aortic surgeries and those involving circulatory arrest. His specialized skills cover a broad range of cardiac interventions, such as coronary artery bypass, heart valve surgery, mitral valve repair, and minimally invasive surgery. He also addresses various aortic diseases across different age groups, including children and infants.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rajbanshi has made significant contributions to education and research in cardiology. He has organized and participated in educational programs in collaboration with institutions such as Mayo Clinic and other prestigious establishments in the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia. His leadership roles include serving as Vice-President of the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology and as a Council Member of the Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia. Dr. Rajbanshi has delivered multiple presentations at national and international conferences and has published extensively in reputed journals, including writing chapters in heart surgery textbooks. His special interests encompass a wide range of cardiac conditions and treatments, including coronary artery disease, heart valve surgery, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and vascular surgery.
