Dr. Dikshya Joshi is Nepal’s first female cardiac surgeon, with nearly 15 years of expertise in adult and congenital cardiac surgery. She currently serves as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Nepal Mediciti, renowned for her advanced surgical skills and compassionate patient care.
Dr. Joshi completed her M.B.B.S. and Master’s degree in Cardiothoracic Surgery from Tianjin Medical University, China, graduating at the top of her class. She further enhanced her expertise with a prestigious Fellowship in ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) from Seoul National University, South Korea, and completed the Epidemiology for Global Health Program at the University of Washington.
Known for her clinical excellence and dedication to patient-centered cardiac care, Dr. Joshi has been instrumental in advancing cardiothoracic surgery in Nepal. She pioneered innovative initiatives such as mobile PT-INR clinics, significantly improving cardiac care accessibility in rural communities.
An active academic researcher and surgical educator, Dr. Joshi has presented her work at numerous international medical conferences, earning multiple Best Paper Presentation Awards. She holds influential leadership roles in national and international cardiac surgery societies, championing surgical excellence and the empowerment of women in medicine.
