Head of Critical Care & Chief of Clinical Governance
Dr. Diptesh Aryal is a critical care physician and a health systems researcher with over 20 years of experience in Critical Care Medicine. He leads the Critical Care Department and Clinical Governance functions at Nepal Mediciti, where he guides quality improvement, patient safety, clinical audits, and the implementation of evidence-based medical practices across hospital services.
Dr. Aryal completed his MD in Anesthesiology from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and undertook advanced critical care fellowship training at the University of Toronto, Canada. He holds a PhD in intensive care outcomes, focusing on multilevel risk factors for ICU readmissions. His clinical expertise includes the management of complex critical illness, sepsis, multi-organ failure, and advanced life support.
In addition to his clinical leadership role, Dr. Aryal serves as Director of the Nepal Intensive Care Research Foundation and is an Honorary Research Associate with the NICS-MORU collaboration in Sri Lanka. His research portfolio includes multicentre clinical trials, registry-based studies, and implementation research in critical care, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes in resource-limited healthcare settings.
