Dr. Jaya Ram Maharjan (PT) is a Consultant Physical Therapist and the Incharge of Orthopedics and Sports at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Nepal Mediciti Hospital. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy, a Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Musculoskeletal Disorders and Sports from Rajeev Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore, India, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Montana, USA. Dr. Maharjan is also certified in Manual Therapy (FIMT, COMT), Dry Needling, Biomechanical Taping, and Kinesiology Taping.
With over nine years of clinical experience, Dr. Maharjan has a robust background in Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. Before joining Nepal Mediciti, he served as the Incharge of the Physiotherapy Department at Fortis Hospital, Bangalore. His clinical interests include pain management for spinal and peripheral joint disorders, rehabilitation for total knee and hip replacements, and sports injury management. He has treated numerous national and international athletes and has contributed to sports injury prevention and performance enhancement.
Dr. Maharjan is highly skilled in managing a variety of conditions, including sports injuries, cervicogenic headaches, vertigo, back pain, frozen shoulder, knee pain, heel pain, tendinopathy, myofascial pain syndrome, and post-fracture stiffness. He is also proficient in postural analysis and ergonomic training for corporate environments. Dr. Maharjan has presented his research at various national and international conferences, published articles in physiotherapy journals, and is a life member of the Nepal Physiotherapy Association and the Indian Association of Physiotherapy. Additionally, he is a member of the Capri Institute of Manual Therapy and Physioneed Academy.
