Consultant Physical Therapist
Dr. Jaya Ram Maharjan is a Consultant Physical Therapist and the Incharge of Orthopaedics and Sports at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nepal Mediciti. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from Padmashree Institute of Physiotherapy, India; a Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) specializing in Musculoskeletal Disorders and Sports from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore; and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Montana, USA. Dr. Maharjan is certified in advanced Manual Therapy techniques (FIMT, COMT), Dry Needling, Biomechanical Taping, and Kinesiology Taping.
With over nine years of extensive clinical experience, Dr. Maharjan specializes in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. Prior to joining Nepal Mediciti Hospital, he led the Physiotherapy Department at Fortis Hospital, Bangalore. His expertise includes pain management for spinal and peripheral joint disorders, rehabilitation after total knee and hip replacements, and comprehensive sports injury treatment and prevention.
Dr. Maharjan has successfully treated numerous national and international athletes, enhancing sports performance and reducing injury risks. His clinical proficiency covers a wide range of conditions such as sports injuries, cervicogenic headaches, vertigo, back pain, frozen shoulder, knee pain, heel pain, tendinopathy, myofascial pain syndrome, and post-fracture stiffness. He also excels in postural assessment and ergonomic training tailored for corporate wellness programs.
Dr. Maharjan regularly presents at national and international conferences and has published in reputed physiotherapy journals. He is a life member of the Nepal Physiotherapy Association and the Indian Association of Physiotherapy and holds memberships in the Capri Institute of Manual Therapy and Physioneed Academy.
