Dr. Lata Bajracharya Shakya is a distinguished Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Nepal Mediciti Hospital, with a remarkable career spanning several decades in women’s health. She earned her medical degree from the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine & Research, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1984, and was awarded the FRCOG from the Royal Thai College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2003. Further enhancing her surgical expertise, she completed a fellowship in Operative Laparoscopy in Gynaecology at Benefield Hospital, Germany, in 2006.

Dr. Bajracharya dedicated 27 years of her career to Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Nepal’s largest maternity hospital, where she held prestigious roles including Director and Chairperson of the Development Board. Her leadership and service significantly contributed to elevating maternal healthcare standards in the country.

Recognized as a pioneer in the field, Dr. Bajracharya has presented at numerous national and international conferences and has published influential research papers on critical topics such as instrumental deliveries (vacuum and forceps) and endoscopic surgery in infertility. Her research has played a vital role in advancing evidence-based obstetric and gynecological practices in Nepal.

Beyond her clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Bajracharya has made impactful contributions to community health, organizing and leading health camps in rural and remote areas across Nepal. These outreach programs, in collaboration with the Government of Nepal, NGOs, and community hospitals, highlight her unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality maternal and reproductive healthcare for underserved populations.
