Dr. Lata Bajracharya Shakya is a highly acclaimed Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Nepal Mediciti, with an extensive career dedicated to advancing women’s health and reproductive care in Nepal. With over three decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience, she is recognized as one of the most influential figures in maternal healthcare in the country.

She earned her MBBS degree from the Institute of Postgraduate Medicine and Research in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1984, and received her FRCOG (Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) from the Royal Thai College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2003. To enhance her expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques, Dr. Bajracharya completed a fellowship in Operative Laparoscopy in Gynecology at Benefeld Hospital in Germany in 2006.

For 27 years, Dr. Bajracharya served at Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Nepal’s largest maternity center, where she held top-level roles such as Hospital Director and Chairperson of the Development Board. Under her leadership, the hospital saw remarkable progress in delivering high-quality maternal and neonatal healthcare services to patients across Nepal.

A recognized pioneer in obstetrics and gynecology in Nepal, Dr. Bajracharya has represented Nepal at numerous national and international medical conferences, sharing her insights on critical topics. She has authored influential research papers on instrumental deliveries (including vacuum and forceps-assisted births) and endoscopic surgery for infertility, contributing significantly to the advancement of evidence-based gynecological practices in Nepal.

Her impact extends far beyond hospitals. Dr. Bajracharya is deeply involved in community health outreach, organizing and leading free health camps for women in rural and remote regions of Nepal. These initiatives, often in collaboration with the Government of Nepal, NGOs, and local health institutions, underscore her dedication to improving access to maternal and reproductive healthcare for underserved populations.
