Dr. Mahesh Bahadur Adhikari has been leading the Department of Urology at Nepal Mediciti Hospital since its inception on September 16, 2017, as the Principal Consultant and Head of the Department. At Nepal Mediciti Hospital Dr. Adhikari is also supervising a postgraduate program in Urology, (FCPS Urology) under the (CPSP) program, in Pakistan.

Dr. Adhikari is recognized as one of the most experienced Urosurgeon in the country, given that he had been working in this field for more than 16 years. Dr. Adhikari has played an instrumental role in establishing quality endourology services in many hospitals in Kathmandu as well as in centers outside the Valley. His expertise in managing urinary stone diseases and prostate diseases has already served thousands of patients in Nepal.

Before joining Nepal Mediciti Hospital, Dr. Adhikari worked in one of the premier private hospitals in Nepal for more than 15 years as a Senior Consultant. During this time, he also served as Assistant Professor at Kathmandu University Medical School for 6 years. 

Dr. Adhikari graduated from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) with MS in General Surgery in 2002 and MBBS in 1997. Furthermore, Dr. Adhikari completed his fellowship in Urology and Uro-Oncology from the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore in 2007 and 2016 respectively. He has attended many other international urological fellowship programs, including in Japan.

Past & Current Credits:

Dr. Adhikari has also made significant contributions to advance the academic sector on urological services in Nepal. He has published several academic papers in many national and International Journals. He regularly presents academic papers in Urology Conferences and has been invited as to contribute as a faculty in many of these National and International Conferences. During the Asian EndoUrology Conference in 2011, he successfully performed live PCNL for demonstration, sharing the same platform as many world-renowned authorities in the field of urology.

He is currently President and Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Nepal Association of Urological Surgeons (NAUS). Previously he also served as the executive member, treasurer and General Secretary (two consecutive tenures).  He was a Council Member of the Urological Association of Asia and continues to be an active member of the Urological Association of Asia, American Urological Association, and the International Society of Urology.
