Dr. Manju Gyawali is the head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Nepal Mediciti Hospital. She holds a Ph.D. in neurological rehabilitation with a specialization in stroke rehabilitation from Mahidol University, Thailand, and a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Montana, USA. Dr. Gyawali’s advanced education is complemented by a post-graduation in neurological and psychosomatic disorders from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with clinical training at the renowned NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) in India.
With over 14 years of experience, Dr. Gyawali has made significant contributions to pain management, neurological rehabilitation, and back pain management. Her career began at KIST Medical College and Hospital, and she later served as the head of the Department of Rehabilitation at Annapurna Neurological Institute of Health Sciences. Dr. Gyawali has also worked as a visiting consultant at Orchid Rehabilitation Center, CIWEC, and Annapurna Rehabilitation Center, and has been involved with the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) and various policy-making initiatives at the government level.
Dr. Gyawali’s dedication to research and education is evident through her active participation in national and international conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) programs. She has published original articles, review articles, and case reports, and has been a guest faculty member at prestigious medical meetings. Her contributions to the field are also recognized through her involvement with the Nepal Physiotherapy Association and various other government and non-government organizations. Dr. Gyawali has been featured on national TV and radio, where she has advocated for the importance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in treating various diseases.
