Dr. Richa Amatya is an accomplished Psychiatrist at Nepal Mediciti, where she brings a wealth of experience and a compassionate approach to mental health care. She earned her MBBS from the University of Science and Technology, Chittagong, Bangladesh, and furthered her expertise with a Master’s Degree (MD Psychiatry) from Manipal Teaching Hospital, Pokhara. Her early career included roles at Annapurna Neurological Institute and Allied Sciences and as a Lecturer at Kathmandu University Hospital- Dhulikhel Hospital. Notably, she served as a Correctional Psychiatrist at Dhulikhel prison, addressing diverse mental health needs among inmates.

Dr. Amatya’s professional trajectory is marked by significant contributions in various settings, including nearly three years as an Assistant Professor at Shree Birendra Army Hospital/Nepal Army Institute of Health Sciences. Her extensive experience spans managing a broad range of psychiatric disorders, including insomnia, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. She is also skilled in treating schizophrenia, childhood-onset disorders, and geriatric psychiatric conditions such as dementia and delirium.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Amatya is a TEAM-CBT certified therapist and provides innovative treatments incorporating both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapeutic modalities. Her unique approach includes Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy (JPMR), designed to alleviate stress and manage psychiatric conditions. Dr. Amatya's dedication to exceptional care and her ability to devise creative treatment plans for patients of all ages reflect her commitment to advancing mental health care and improving patient outcomes.
