Dr. Rosina Manandhar
Consultant
Dr. Rosina Manandhar is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Nepal Mediciti. She completed her MD, Obstetrics and Gynaecology from BPKIHS in 2009. She was engaged in practicing clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was a mentor to many MBBS students and MD residents for 10 years, in Patan Academy for Health Sciences and Kathmandu Medical College from 2009 to 2019, before joining the subspeciality training in fetal medicine in Apollo Centre for Fetal Medicine, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi in 2020.
Following two years of her training in fetal screening, diagnosis and interventions, she has returned back to resume her responsibilities, with a new horizon, to provide better care to the mother and her unborn baby, and as well, provide a new dimension in academics.
She has started the fetal medicine unit in Nepal Mediciti from 2022, which provides the prenatal and genetic screening services, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The unit also caters various obstetric scans for diagnosis and management of special fetal conditions, chromosomal and genetic abnormalities.
The fetal invasive procedures; which is limited to few centres in Nepal; are undertaken in this unit. Multiple pregnancy (twin) clinic, fetal brain clinic and management of fetal growth restriction are the other subspeciality services that have been made availed. She holds a special interest in screening and prevention of preeclampsia and preterm delivery and management of fetal growth restriction, which holds the major public heath burden in the country.
She aspires to introduce this new subspeciality in the country with a new vision to provide quality obstetric and fetal care prevailed globally in the present date and establish this new subspeciality, which is an integral necessity in the current obstetric practices.
