Dr. Joshi is a Consultant paediatrician and neonatologist and is in charge of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nepal Mediciti Hospital. Following her MBBS from Sylhet Osmani Medical College, Bangladesh, and MRCPCh in UK, she completed her Ph.D. in ‘Long-term cardio-respiratory outcome in children with chronic lung disease of prematurity’ from Cardiff University, UK.

 Dr. Joshi has more than 10 years of clinical experience as a paediatrician/neonatologist, with a special focus on the care of sick and premature infants. 

Prior to joining Nepal Mediciti, Dr. Joshi worked as the Neonatal Intensive Care in charge at the Patan Hospital from December 2010 till November 2017.  

She has a strong research background, with more than 10 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and multiple presentations at national and international clinical meetings. In 2006, Dr. Joshi was awarded the David Ferguson Neonatal Award for Best Junior Doctor while working as a neonatal registrar at Royal Gwent Hospital, UK. In 2007, she was appointed as the Walport Clinical Academic Research Fellow to complete her Ph.D. in neonatology in the UK. 

While working as an Assistant Professor in Paediatrics at Patan Acadamy of Health Sciences,  she has served as a tutor in the Paediatric Advanced Life Support training and Neonatal Resuscitation Program and coached the Comprehensive Newborn Care ToT for junior doctors and nurses on the Stabilization of Sick Newborns. Currently, Dr. Joshi runs a ‘Basic neonatal life support training program for doctors and nurses in Nepal Mediciti. She is the chairperson of the ‘Clinical Audit and Patient safely committee’ and a member of the ‘Hospital infection control committee’, ‘Mortality, morbidity, and sentinel events reporting committee’, and ‘Blood transfusion committee’.

Dr. Joshi has experience in developing multi-level clinical guidelines for Nepal. As a member of the Nepal Paediatric Society Newborn Committee, she has helped to develop (2015, 2022) the Operational Guideline and Clinical Protocol for Strengthening Newborn Services in District and Regional Hospitals in Nepal.
