Dr. Sushil Rawal is the Principal Consultant and Head of the Department of General Surgery and Digestive Diseases, Unit-2 at Nepal Mediciti. With a distinguished 35-year career in the Nepali Army, he brings extensive expertise and leadership as a senior surgeon. Dr. Rawal specializes in advanced gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatobiliary surgeries, reinforced by comprehensive formal training and prestigious international fellowships.

He has completed advanced fellowships in gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary (GIHPB), and liver transplantation surgery from world-renowned institutions including Madigan Army Medical Center, USA (2006), Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, India (2008), Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan (2011), and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai (2014). This diverse and high-level training reflects his commitment to delivering excellence in complex surgical care.

Apart from his clinical expertise, Dr. Rawal is deeply dedicated to medical education and research. He plays an active role in developing continued medical education programs and research initiatives within the department. His extensive teaching experience includes guiding undergraduate, postgraduate, and GI MCh students, fostering the growth of future surgical experts.

Known for his compassionate patient care, collaborative leadership, and passion for advancing surgical techniques, Dr. Sushil Rawal remains a key figure in promoting excellence in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery in Nepal.

He is trained in mass casualty and trauma management, at Rambam Hospital Hifa Israel. He is well known for his experience in the management of trauma and critically injured patients in the military service. 

He has commanded various military medical units in International missions abroad and within the country. Since 2021 he has joined Nepal Mediciti Hospital as a full-time commitment with premature retirement from the Nepal Military Medical Corp, the rank of Brigadier General from the portfolio of Clinical Registrar of Shree Birendra Army Hospital.
