Dr. Sushil Rawal is the Head of the Department of General Surgery and Digestive Diseases, Unit-2. He has served 35 years in the Nepali army post-premature retirement and has joined Nepal Mediciti Hospital as a full-time senior consultant surgeon. He has vast experience performing advanced Gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgeries. He is highly motivated, team-oriented, and compassionate with an attitude to uplift teaching and learning among colleagues and subordinates. He is interested in developing research and continued medical education in the department. Experience in teaching undergraduate, postgraduate, and GI Mch students His skill and knowledge have come from his immense hard work and formal fellowships and training he had throughout his surgical career. He had formal advanced training in GIHPB from Madigan Army medical center, USA 2006, received the Gyan Burman fellowship in GIHPB and liver transplantation surgery from Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi India in 2008; Fellowship in GIHPB and Liver transplantation surgery, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan 2011; Fellowship in GIHPB and liver transplantation surgery, Kokilabaen Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital Mumbai 2014.
He is trained in mass casualty and trauma management, at Rambam Hospital Hifa Israel. He is well known for his experience in the management of trauma and critically injured patients in the military service.
He has commanded various military medical units in International missions abroad and within the country. Since 2021 he has joined Nepal Mediciti Hospital as a full-time commitment with premature retirement from the Nepal Military Medical Corp, the rank of Brigadier General from the portfolio of Clinical Registrar of Shree Birendra Army Hospital.
