Principal Consultant
Dr. Deependra Shrestha is a Principal Consultant in the department of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery at Nepal Mediciti and Professor in the Department of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal. He holds a Master of Surgery (MS) degree in ENT from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, and completed his MBBS from Chittagong Medical College. Dr. Shrestha’s advanced training includes prestigious fellowships in Head and Neck Onco-surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, and other global centers of excellence.
Dr. Shrestha holds several key leadership roles in the medical community. He serves as President of the Society of Otorhinolaryngologists of Nepal and Editor of the Journal of the Nepal Medical Association. He is also the General Secretary of the American Nepal Medical Foundation and Vice President of the Nepalese Association of Thyroid, Laryngology, and Allied Sciences. His academic influence extends internationally through his role as a Visiting Professor at Prince Songkla Medical Institute, Thailand.
He has made significant contributions to ENT education and public health, serving as the Coordinator of the Master of Surgery (ENT) program and as Member Secretary of the National Deafness Prevention Program under Nepal’s Ministry of Health. Dr. Shrestha played a central role in developing Nepal’s first National Strategy for Deafness Prevention.
Previously, Dr. Shrestha was Head of the Department of ENT and Head & Neck Surgery at the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Bir Hospital, and held academic positions at Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital and College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur. His clinical expertise includes complex ENT surgeries, head and neck cancer management, and innovative treatments for voice and hearing disorders.
