HOD and Principal Consultant
Prof. Dr. Ganesh Dangal is the HOD and Principal Consultant of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Nepal Mediciti, with over 26 years of specialized experience in women’s health. Holding an MBBS and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, Dr. Dangal is recognized for his advanced expertise through prestigious fellowships, including a Fellowship in Urogynaecology from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery from Tel-Aviv University, and a Fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology from Hong Kong University. His extensive training and experience make him a leading expert in gynaecologic oncology, gynaecologic laparoscopy, urogynaecology, and obstetric fistula surgery.
Dr. Dangal specializes in comprehensive care for women with pre-malignant and malignant gynecological conditions, offering expert management of complex gynaecologic cancers. He is a FIGO-trained fistula surgeon, underscoring his dedication to treating critical and often neglected women’s health issues. Throughout his distinguished career, he has played pivotal roles in Nepal’s healthcare system, including serving as a Medical Officer at AMDA Hospital in Damak and the Department of Surgery at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. He has also contributed significantly as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Bharatpur Hospital and led the Gynaecological Oncology Unit at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital as Chief and Senior Registrar.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Dangal is deeply involved in medical education. He is a Visiting Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Bournemouth University, UK, and a Professor at the National Academy of Medical Sciences, Nepal. Prior to his current role at Nepal Mediciti, he held academic positions including Assistant Professor at Kathmandu University Medical School and Honorary Assistant Professor at the College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur. His consultancy work spans several community hospitals such as Helping Hands Community Hospital, Manmohan Memorial Hospital, and Balaju Health Clinic, contributing to widespread healthcare development.
A visionary leader in women’s health, Dr. Ganesh Dangal established the Gynaecologic Oncology Unit at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur in 2000, significantly advancing cancer treatment services in the region. He has actively participated in numerous reproductive health camps in remote areas of Nepal, helping to extend essential medical care to underserved communities.
