Prof. Dr. Shishir is the Principal Consultant and Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Nepal Mediciti, specializing in complex fracture management, trauma surgery, arthroscopic (key-hole) joint surgery, and joint replacement (arthroplasty). Prior to joining Nepal Mediciti, he served as Professor and Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) and held consultant roles at the National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences (NINAS) and Himal Hospital in Kathmandu. He also worked as Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan.
With 19 years of experience teaching MBBS students and 12 years training postgraduate MS Orthopaedics residents, Prof. Dr. Shishir is a highly respected orthopaedic educator and trainer. He has also taught B.Sc Nursing students at BPKIHS and served as an examiner for MBBS and MS Orthopaedics examinations at multiple universities across Nepal. His leadership roles include Editor-in-Chief of the Nepal Orthopaedic Association Journal, Chief of the KMC Disaster Management Unit, and columnist for The Kathmandu Post.
Currently, Prof. Dr. Shishir is President of the Arthroscopy Society of Nepal (ASON) and an active peer reviewer for prominent medical journals such as the Journal of Nepal Medical Association (JNMA) and Kathmandu University Medical Journal (KUMJ). He is extensively involved in orthopaedic teaching, training, and research activities with national and international professional societies. He has authored chapters in medical textbooks and presented over 30 research papers at prestigious conferences.
His clinical expertise includes advanced arthroscopic joint surgery, complex fracture and trauma care, joint replacement surgery, and acetabulum fracture management, making him a leading orthopaedic surgeon committed to elevating orthopaedic healthcare in Nepal.
