HoD & Principal Consultant
Prof. Dr. Shishir is the Principal Consultant and Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Nepal Mediciti. Before joining Nepal Mediciti, he served as a Professor and Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) and held consultant positions at the National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences (NINAS) and Himal Hospital in Kathmandu. His previous roles include Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.
With nineteen years of experience in teaching MBBS students and twelve years instructing postgraduate (MS Orthopaedics) residents, Prof. Dr. Shishir is a highly respected educator. He has also taught B.Sc nursing students at BPKIHS and served as an examiner for MBBS and MS (Orthopaedic) students at various universities. His past roles include Editor-in-Chief of the Nepal Orthopaedic Association Journal, Chief of the KMC Disaster Management Unit, and columnist for “The Kathmandu Post.”
Currently, Prof. Dr. Shishir is the President of the Arthroscopy Society of Nepal (ASON) and serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Nepal Medical Association (JNMA) and Kathmandu University Medical Journal (KUMJ). He is actively involved in teaching and training activities with several orthopaedic associations, has written chapters for medical textbooks, and presented over 30 papers at national and international conferences. His special interests include complex fracture and trauma surgery, key-hole surgery of joints (arthroscopy), joint replacement surgery (arthroplasty), and acetabulum fracture surgery.
