Depression
Depression is a mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It can significantly impair one’s ability to function and maintain relationships.
Causes: Depression can result from a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Traumatic events, chronic stress, and imbalances in brain chemistry are commonly implicated.
Depression increases the risk of other mental health disorders, substance abuse, and can lead to serious physical health problems. It also heightens the risk of self-harm and suicidal thoughts or actions.
Seek professional help if symptoms of depression persist for more than two weeks or interfere with daily functioning. Consulting a mental health professional is crucial if you experience thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
