In Nepal Mediciti, we have round-the-clock paediatricians to attend deliveries and to look after sick and small newborns. In our NICU, all babies in mechanical ventilators and those who are very sick are cared by ‘one-to-one nursing care’ policy. We specialize in caring for extremely premature (less than 28 weeks) and extremely low birth weight (less than 1000 grams) babies. We also have facilities and experience of undertaking abdominal surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiac surgery in newborns, including those babies born under 1000 grams. We have a team of pediatric cardiologists and in house, cardiothoracic surgical team enabling us to diagnose and treat congenital cardiac diseases promptly. Prematurely born babies are prone to an eye disease called retinopathy of prematurity, which is a preventable cause of blindness in children. In Nepal Mediciti, we have a dedicated ophthalmologist/ retina specialist who visits our premature, tiny babies in our NICU for their eye check-ups so treatment can be initiated timely where necessary. Besides the doctors and nurses, we also boast of a dedicated team of allies such as pediatric physiotherapists, infection control nurses, biomedical engineers, and our very dedicated housekeeping staff who play a vital role in caring for our small and sick newborns in a safe environment. Once the babies are clinically stable, we also help parents care for the babies, hold babies using the Kangaroo care method, and feed the babies before these tiny babies are discharged home.

The NICU team in Nepal Mediciti is dedicated to the holistic care of premature, small, and sick newborns with utmost diligence and integrity.
